With cross-selling (cross-sells) you can suggest to your customers other products that complement the one they have already added to the cart; these products are displayed at checkout. Whereas with targeted sales (up-sells) the customer is shown products similar to the one he is buying, but with a slightly higher value, thus increasing the average value of the sale. Upsells are displayed on the product page.
